May Goals

Happy May!!

Can you believe it is May already? I am ready for some warmer weather. Looks like a heat wave will be heading to the PNW this weekend. I am soooooo excited. Can’t you tell? 😉


Let’s chat about goals shall we? What are your goals for the month of May?

I was pondering this last night about how I can push myself this month in a particular area of fitness. Whether it is setting a goal for a certain amount of miles accumulated, competing in races, attending a new workout class, or adding trying a completely different workout like a boot camp or rock climbing. The possibilities are endless.

I’ve decided that I am going to do at least two races. The first is this upcoming Saturday, May 4, 2013. It is called the Fiesta Ole’! Sounds fun right?! It is a 5k run in Seattle with a Taco Truck Challenge after.

 Plus a bunch of us from work are going to go together. Even better! Look at our cool swag we are going to wear.


Who doesn’t want to wear a mustache and mini sombrero?

The next race is called Nordstrom’s Annual Beat the Bridge 8k race and it is on May 19, 2013. It is the largest charitable support of type 1 diabetes research. You can learn more about it here: Nordstrom’s Beat the Bridge Race.


It is called Beat the Bridge, because participants try to cross the University Bridge in Seattle before it is raised. If you don’t cross before it is raised you have to wait. Who knows how long that is, I’ve never had to wait…

I think that two races in May are doable. I would try to incorporate more, but there aren’t a whole lot of options in my area that have sparked my interest. Luckily, the summer races look fantastic. Seafair, Issaquah 10k, Survivor Mud Run, Shore Run and so many more. Ohh the choices!
