2014 Goals. Be about it!

Happy New Years Eve!

The last day of 2013 is upon us. How do you feel? Was 2013 a good year?

2013 was definitely interesting for me. It had its ups and downs.

I went outside my comfort zone and started this blog in April. I am so grateful that I made the leap after pondering for months on end. Blogging has been so rewarding for me. I am happier overall because of it. 2836828090_d44f5278bd

I cannot wait for the new changes that will happen in 2014.20131230-201533.jpg

I want to continue to venture outside the box and do things that scare me. I hate change, but I will only grow from it.

In 2014 I will…

Begin my 3rd year at the law firm.

Run my first marathon.run-a-marahon-check

Turn twenty-six. Oh boy.

Incorporate more strength training workouts.

Move into a new home.

Continue to work on my journey towards loving myself more.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Run more races. Triathlons, marathons, half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, etc.

Self host my blog!

The possibilities are endless. It has been a while since I’ve truly felt happy about where I’ve been. I want to change this in 2014 and focus on myself.

a-little-selfish-blueTrue dat.

My New Years Eve, won’t be able going out this year. More about spending time at home, throwing back a few beers and watching tv. But hey, I am completely OK with that. I don’t need to be at the coolest bar or night club to bring in 2014. I think I’ll be forgiven. HA.

What are your 2004 goals?

How was 2013 for you? What are you proud of?

Any tid-bits for me?

Have a safe New Years Eve. I’ll see you in 2014. 😀

German Style

Howdy! Are you ready for 2014 yet? If not, well…you don’t have alot of time left to be “ready” for 2014. I am excited for what is has to bring!

promised you a recap of our “mini” vacation to Leavenworth yesterday. Leavenworth is a well-known tourist attraction known for its Bavarian style.

See the German resemblance?

Back in the 1960’s, the city of Leavenworth decided to change the town into a Bavarian  mock-style town. This has definitely helped the cities economy. The city is well-known for its Oktoberfest celebration each year. I have yet to attend one, but it is on my bucket list.

The drive over was breathtaking. We crossed over two mountain passes to get there. The weather was sunny and cold. 078

We made it! Time to shop and pittle around. 083071

Leavenworth has a super fun hat shop. I had to try on the Seattle Seahawks goofy hat. Classic.

The gravitational pull towards the beer garden was intense. 😉 Joe and I disappeared real quick. Oops!075077

Joe had to photo bomb the photo with an empty beer glass.087

I had to get a pretzel for a snack. So good! They made my homemade pretzels look stupid. Haha!

We took highway 2 back home just to change up the scenery. Beautiful (dangerous) drive back.

The whole crew was exhausted by the time we got home. If you haven’t been to Leavenworth yet, make it a priority! You won’t be disappointed.

It’s been a while since I have been to the regular ol’ gym.

I did a 60 minute hill elliptical workout, followed by some weights. It was good to be back. I’ve been mainly just doing Flywheel classes since its so convenient.

Have you been to Leavenworth?

Do you enjoy pretzels?

Are you back on your typical workout schedule?

ENJOY your Monday!

A Double Feature!

If you haven’t seen Saving Mr. Banks yet, then you are missing out. What a great movie!! I highly recommend it.

Tom Hanks will never ever let you down. Makes me want to watch Castaway again. Oh, Wilson…. 😉

Grab your popcorn and now up early for a kick asssssss movie. If you’re younger like me…it involves Disney and the movie Mary Poppins. (I.e. Never as that movie….)

The only line I knew was “a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.”

I’m a sad sad girl. Yes I’ve never seen the movie…

You won’t be sorry that you went.
Following the movie, came another movie… Any guesses?

I have positive and negative thoughts about this movie.
The negatives: the movie just “ended” and they didn’t talk about the iPod, iPhone or iPad. I thought they would talk about present day too.
The positives: Ashton did a great job protraying Steve Jobs. I learned more about the earlier days of Apple. It was educational.

Then we all passed out. It was a pretty crazy day. Hahha not…
Oh ya I almost forgot. I did get in a seven mile run in before we went to the movies! It’s been a while since I went on a long run. Felt ahhhmazing!

Post run tired and cold face!
Woot woot!

Do you have any Christmas Day traditions? Movies or skiing is typically on the agenda!

Stay tuned for my mini trip to Leavenworth recap! 😀

Christmas Eve 13′ in a nutshell.

I am a few days late with sharing my own Christmas with you! It was a good one overall.
The morning started with some good ol’ Flywheel! My family patiently waited for me  to come home, shower and head out for a quick tour of the area!

Nana, Joe and I

We had to show Nana the spectacular view from the Newcastle golf course! You can see literally see Seattle in the distance.
Next up was Snoqualmie Falls; however it was too foggy with the falls making it’s own climate. You couldn’t even see the falls even though it was a clear sunny day. You could definitely hear it tho!

Next up was making pretzels for the first time!

The finished product!

Ok, pretzels are fairly easy to make, buttttttt forming them into the pretzel shape is an art. Perhaps the dough was a bit dryer than it should be which made it tougher. However, the overall process was super fun! We will definitely make these babies again. Mini versions!

A pre-Christmas dinner snack.

The rest of the family came over for the prime rib dinner! Yum yum!!

Yours truly and my dad! See the resemblance?! Haha

We finished dinner, warmed up my the “Yule log” and opened presents.

I was grateful for all the presents I received this year. Lots of good running zipups, a lulu jacket, frames, boots, a food processor and memories!

Sadly, I do have to take my new Frye boots back since we discovered that someone had already worn them. I was totally bummed. Back to Nordstroms they go! Butttttt….Nordstroms hooked me up and made me a happy girl. Nordstroms stands by their word and always has great customer service.

Overall, our Christmas Eve was a success. We ended the night with a random holiday movie and passed out.

I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Well, maybe a few of the burnt pretzels. 😉

Tell me about your Christmas Eve!

Any baking or cooking failures? Did you try something new?

XO, Tara

So much fun not even time

Helloooo all! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas holiday with your friends and family. This week has just been a whirlwind of fun and events. That’s why I have been absent….I’ll be sure to share all the fun with you over the next few days! 🙂
Monday night we had a big party to celebrate the holiday and my Nana being in town from Florida.

The three generations! It’s been 8 years since we have all been together.

We had way too much food n’ wine. We still are swimming in wine. Luckily those who like wine are okay with that. Me? Not so much…beer is ok with me!
The party was an overall success! Lots of friends, conversation, food, drinks and smiling faces! It was a good night to start an even better week to come!
Did you have any parties this week?
Too much wine or too much beer? Tell me which you prefer….
I’ll be back this weekend to share my Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and trip to Leavenworth!
Bring on 2014! 🙂
XO, Tara

In five words…

In five words or less, tell me about your weekend…
Mine may take more than five words, but it wasn’t too eventful.
The dreadful sickness took over my LIFE!

“My” Quil in all forms became my biggest fan. I lived and breathed the “quil.” It was a nasty nasty virus. I now have a voice after four/five days. It was super attractive to sound like a squeaky squirrel.
I did manage to finally get outta the house on Saturday. It was a highlight and very tiring. I couldn’t believe how tired I was after just being out for a few hours!
Plus I got my hair did. No picture yet, but I’ll have some soon. It’s not blonder….just a hint! 😉

Lots of this happened. Sitting on my booty watching tv and football.
Poor hawks….and I don’t want to talk about it….
My nana came into town too!
More pics to come. I was too mad about the hawks to be a photographer.

Guess which one is mine…? Jk. The smaller one duhhhh. My step dad got a liter of Mannys. Wowza! Two pints and I was fine! 😉
I am looking forward to a cheerful week with my Nana and the family! Sadly I do have to “work” today….we will see how much of that happens! Luckily the party is tonight! Looking forward to that! 🙂
Happy Monday! Enjoy the day and finish your shopping!!!!
Describe your weekend in five words….
XO, Tara

Romanesco anyone?

PNW Runner

Seattle experienced it’s first ‘snow fall’ of the season! When the talk of snow occurs in Seattle it’s like all hands on deck! Seriously though….
Thursday night King5 mainly talked about the weather and pin pointing exactly when the snow would hit the Seattle area. I mean how close could they have gotten? To the minute or hour? Guess so! I cannot be there to judge because I was in a NyQuil coma.

I’ve been battling a nasty nasty something. I’m guessing the flu. It hit me like a ton of books Thursday morning. Yuck!

These items have been my best friends!
The snowfall Friday morning meant snow things: no school for all the kids or a late arrival. Well the kiddos got their wish of no school. Oh ya there was like only an inch of snow in some areas, butttttt there are a ton of hills in our…
