The Catch Recap & Mom’s Birthday

Happy Birthday to the BEST MOM that I could ever have!!!!

Don’t ask how old she is, because she may only answer out to guilt. hehe! We’ve had a great weekend so far.

I mentioned that I went fishing on Saturday with family (mom included) and friends of the family. I would considered most of my family friends to just be family. I can cut out all the drama and get to the source.

4:30 a.m. came quick. I finally awoke to my alarm blaring for at least a few minutes. I thought I was dreaming about an alarm going off. It was real time. I managed to get dressed, brush my teeth, do my hair and fill up my water bottle. I cannot do much at 4:30 a.m. My motor skills don’t work that early. My voice and grammar doesn’t work either. However, my step dad has no problem with talking whenever where-ever. It was a struggle to keep up.

Once we were on the boat, we decided that it would be best to set the crab traps and then head to the fishing spot. Everyone agreed and it was time to prepare the crab bate and throw the traps.

After some time passed and the traps were set, it was time to boat to the “spot.” The spot is a designated area that our navigator has recently had success at. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best luck.

No luck. No fish. No practice. Only little shakers. AKA mini salmon that aren’t worth it.

After nearly 6 hours of fishing/hanging out, we decided to call it a day and head back to out crab pots.

Proof. Mom’s holding the only Salmon

Hauling in the crab pots.

Up close and personal with the crabs.

We caught out limit, which made up for the lack of Salmon. No one was disappointed.

Lunch at Anthony’s was necessary after a hint and miss morning fishing/crabbing. Anthony’s never disappoints.

Following our late lunch, it was time to head back to the Eastside, change clothes, and head down to Salmon Days. Ironically, there was a whole lot of Salmon talk happening this weekend. No problem at all.

Post Salmon Days, meant it was time to cook those suckers (crabs).

I won’t post anymore, because I know you understand what happened next.

WOW, what a long day. It’z time to celebrate Mom’s Birthday!!! 😀

It’s time to get weird.

Getting Those Gains!

I’ve caught the weight lifting bug.  It is very serious! Ever since I started taking weight lifting classes at  Sweat Equity, I’ve learned that I can really push myself. I love the fact that after each exercise, I am thoroughly fatigued. It makes me feel accomplished and stronger than I was when I entered the room.

I wouldn’t be able to do the same kind of “work” while at a normal gym.

Despite a feel bruises, I’ve already noticed that I am getting stronger every single day. Encouragement from others helps me complete every set.

Everyone wants to hear, “You got this girl. You’re a beast, get it.” I mean who wouldn’t? 😉

I’ve been informed that I need to reduce my cardio each week to just 30-45 minutes. Each cardio session should involve intervals or high intensity work. I don’t want to break down the muscle that I’ve gained. This is hard for me to hear, but if it will benefit me in the long run, then I’ll take it into consideration.

I was pumped yesterday when one of our exercises included running 6 laps around the building for time. I knew that I had this in the bag. I did pretty well overall, but I cannot wait to see how my times improve each week.

You know that I will be keeping you informed. 😀

When was the last time that you pushed yourself to the max?

Do you weight lift?

What is your favorite type of exercise?

Keeping Portland Weird

Ya hurd?

I was in Portland for 36 hours and managed to do the following:

1. Visited Voodoo Donuts.

2. Ate 1/4 of a sugar bomb donut from Voodoo.

3. Saw some interesting writing on the side of buildings.

4. Visited Powell books- well saw the outside…

5. Visited at least 6 breweries….Migration, Deschutes, Rogue, Basecamp, Pints, Upright and the last one is escaping my mind.

6. Tried at least 10 new beers.

Stout with a roasted marshmallow

7. Ate way to much food.

8. Visited Portland State University.

9. Walked at least ten miles.

10. Walked over the Steel bridge at night.

11. Drove almost 450 miles in 36 hours.

12. Overall, drank too much beer.

It was a great experience with the family. I would definitely go again! Especially since there are many more breweries to visit. 🙂

What did you do over the weekend?

Have you been to Portland?

Favorite spot in Portland?

Romanesco anyone?

Seattle experienced it’s first ‘snow fall’ of the season! When the talk of snow occurs in Seattle it’s like all hands on deck! Seriously though….
Thursday night King5 mainly talked about the weather and pin pointing exactly when the snow would hit the Seattle area. I mean how close could they have gotten? To the minute or hour? Guess so! I cannot be there to judge because I was in a NyQuil coma.

I’ve been battling a nasty nasty something. I’m guessing the flu. It hit me like a ton of books Thursday morning. Yuck!

These items have been my best friends!
The snowfall Friday morning meant snow things: no school for all the kids or a late arrival. Well the kiddos got their wish of no school. Oh ya there was like only an inch of snow in some areas, butttttt there are a ton of hills in our area and the snow kept falling all morning.

The pups loved the snow. I wasn’t up for a trip outside so I left that up to my parents. I mainly plopped on the couch for another day. I can say that I am caught up on Walking Dead and Vanderpump Rules.
Sadly I did have to go into my second job, but that DayQuil works wonders. I still felt like poop but I could manage a few hours on that stuff.

My lovely parents were kind enough to drop me off and go venture around Pike place market!
Beautiful huh?!
They also found this….

Please tell me what it is…apparently it’s called Romanesco. Crazy huh? Looks like a mini tree. A cross between cauliflower and broccoli? Either way I
NOT eating it.
Makes for a great center piece!
I’m really praying that this flu thing goes away. I don’t want to be sick anymore. I can’t stand sitting around and doing nothing. It’s lame and I’m so not used to it.
Ok I’m done complaining!
Have a wonderful Saturday!!
What are your plans this weekend?
Have you ever bought a werid looking veggie that you weren’t sure exactly what it was?

Hustle like Russell

I bet there are lots of Seahawks fans nursing hangovers or can barely speak after last nights game. Not me, I laid on the couch and just cheered.

What an EPIC game. Oh my god, was it good. Did the Saint’s even show up for the game? They probably should have just stayed at home, because we trampled all over

Wilson, Miller, Kearse, Baldwin and Lynch all brought their A-game! I’ve never seen the Seahawks dominate this well. Well done!! The 12th man was definitely present.

The Seattle Seahawks control the NFC and improve to 11-1.

This is from my Birthday when we saw the Seahawks play the Broncos.

You can read more about the highlights from last night’s game here.

I am still pretty darn sore from my waist down from Sunday’s half marathon. Any tips? Ice bath? Advil? I’ll take anything. IMG_3346

I had an delicious bowl of oats last night. I love eating oatmeal in the fall and winter months. It definitely warms me up!

Who did you cheer for this weekend?

What is your favorite oatmeal combo?

What is your favorite meal in the winter?

The Air is Cool, Crisp and Fantastic.

I can feel winter approaching and I am finally adapting to the colder weather. Hallelujah! I love bundling up in scarves and gloves.

The weather in Seattle was glorious all weekend. The air was crisp and the skies were clear and sunny!

It was quite the busy/non-busy weekend. Does that makes sense? Probably not. I worked both Saturday and Sunday morning at Flywheel. Oh did I mention that I went and saw The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Saturday!!!!!?!?!?HUNGER-GAMES

Oh my gosh, was it good. Go see it, if you haven’t already! I feel like every fifth post on Facebook all weekend was about Catching Fire.

I also watched The Internship. It was pretty fun. You can never go wrong watching a movie with both Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Check this out. Which is bigger? Kasa or the pile o’ hair?

This is what came off Reese during his brushing. WOW. Speaking of wow, we discovered this gem Sunday morning….026

A nest. Interesting to look at but NOT fun to get rid of. Not sure what the game plan is regarding this.

I finally got my car washed. I’ve been meaning to get it washed or wash it myself for months. I’ve just been lazy or blaming it on the cold weather. Meh, the car wash did its job!

I am loving the fact that is only a three day work week. I am grateful for that.

Btw, six more days until the I run the Seattle half marathon. The count down is officially on. 🙂

Have a fantastic Monday.

XO, Tara
